Take a minute to jump over to Something Else! and check out “Good Things Happen to Bad People,” a new song from Richard Thompson. He’s in predictably great form and the tune contains a lead break Something Else! describes as such:

(A)n angular, hell-raising solo — one part stunned disbelief and two parts boiling pissed-offed-ness … and every part of it utterly cathartic.

Guitarist extraordinaire Richard Thompson (along with Annie Lennox) was recently presented a prestigious honor in his home country. As Paste put it:

At a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, two legendary British musicians were awarded the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.

Outside Great Britain, take a look at what it all means on Wikipedia right here.

I just discovered the “Black Cab Sessions,” an interesting series of videos featuring performers in the most intimate of venues, the back seat of a cab. As they describe themselves:

IT DOESN’T MATTER IF THEIR ALBUM WENT PLATINUM OR THEIR RECORDING STUDIO CLOSELY RESEMBLES A MATE’S LAPTOP – THEY JUST HAVE TO BE SUPERB. AND ALIVE.

Well Richard Thompson certainly fits that description. Check out the Black Cab Sessions.
