Glenn Tipton retires from active Priest duty

Citing his 10-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton has retired from touring with the band. Guitar World has shared the band’s statement, which reads in part:

I want everyone to know that it’s vital that the Judas Priest tour go ahead and that I am not leaving the band—it’s simply that my role has changed. I don’t rule out the chance to go on stage when I feel able to blast out some Priest!

They also note that Tipton himself selected Andy Sneap—co-producer of Priest’s new album, Firepower—to replace him on tour.

Original co-guitarist K.K. Downing retired in 2011.
