Longtime Pogues guitarist Philip Chevron has died at 56 following an extended bout with cancer. From The Guardian:

He had been treated for head and neck cancer in 2007 and was given a clean bill of health in April 2012. A new tumour appeared in August 2012, however, and was deemed inoperable.

In addition to his Pogues legacy, Chevron is known to have founded The Radiators from Space, considered to be Ireland’s first punk band.
