Jeff Scheetz—killer guitarist, True Fire Director of Education, and all around great dude—has some excellent practice advice for the new year. In a new True Fire column Scheetz makes recommendations including keeping a practice journal, working with a metronome (a personal fave) and, simply enough, setting up your gear:

I hate to change strings, don’t want to tweak on pedals, just want to plug in and create. However, eventually this catches up with me and I have to “tidy up” my rig. So … throw away that cable that has been cutting out on you for 3 years, organize your pedal board, and have your guitar set up by a professional to play better.
