AD: Earl Slick and Kevin Russell for Guild

The guitarists of NYC

Earl Slick has had a long and storied career playing his own music and joining with the likes of David Bowie and Ian Hunter among many others. This Guild ad pictures Slick with fellow guitarist Kevin Russell holding the Liberator and Detonator models and intones the pair’s band NYC. I can find no information about this group. Anyone?

Scanned from Guitar for the Practicing Musician, January 1988.

  1. I got a reply from Kevin Russell:

Ah ha…The ill fated NYC band.. It never got off the ground to be 100% honest.

Slick and I played together with Slim Jim Phantom & Lee Rocker (ex Stray Cats). When Slick and I both left that band we formed NYC.

NYC did record some songs with different configurations to in hopes of establishing a lineup, however that never happened.

    Thx Kevin
