Willie Hugh Nelson

Here we have Willie Nelson in a Dean Markley ad from ’94. In a design that presages the bronze Willie statue, the legend is here cast on a 1937 buffalo nickel. The line, “Write off those 1040 blues,” of course, refers to Willie’s widely publicized early ’90s troubles with the IRS. He was also coming off releasing the album Moonlight Becomes You at this time.

Taken from Guitar for the Practicing Musician, July 1994.
