AD: Ritchie Blackmore for Picato Strings

In the mid- to late-1980s the Deep Purple Mk II lineup had reformed to issue the excellent Perfect Strangers and so-so The House of Blue Light. And in Guitar for the Practicing Musician, April 1988 Ritchie Blackmore appeared in this junky ad for “Picato Musician Strings.”

The British string company is still in business, boasting among its roster of endorsees the likes of Micky Moody, Bernie Marsden, Paul Weller, and yes, Ritchie Blackmore, who the company’s equally junky website incorrectly list thusly:

In the Picato proofreading department, the lights are burning bright, but nobody's home.
