Motown guitarist and songwriter Marv Tarplin has died in Las Vegas at the age of 70. Tarplin, an original member of Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, co-wrote many of that group’s hits, including “Tracks of My Tears” and “Going to a Go-Go.” Quoted by BBC News, Motown Alumni Association’s  Billy Wilson said of Tarplin:

His creative backbeat rhythms on guitar allowed the powers that be to find the creative juices to formulate what would become major classic hits for Motown.
