A true godfather of thrash and founding member of Slayer, guitarist Jeff Hanneman was recently hospitalized and given emergency surgery due to an infection. Guitar World reports:
While Hanneman’s doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection’s origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis, and indicated it likely was rooted in a spider bite.
Necrotizing fasciitis. Spider bite. METAL. Hanneman is recovering at home and working toward complete recovery. Best to him.
