“Death to All Tour 2012″ is an upcoming series of shows by some serious musicians celebrating the work of the band Death and its late guitarist Chuck Schuldiner. In addition to commemorating Schuldiner’s innovative music, the tour will benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. The lineup is composed entirely of Death alumni, according to Noisecreep:

The drums will be handled by Gene Hoglan (‘Individual Thought Patterns,’ ‘Symbolic’) and Sean Reinert (‘Human’). On bass will be Steve DiGiorgio (‘Human,’ ‘Individual Thought Patterns’) and Scott Clendenin (‘The Sound of Perseverance’). Guitar duties will be shared by Paul Masvidal (‘Human’), Shannon Hamm (‘The Sound of Perseverance’) and Bobby Koelble (‘Symbolic’).

Technical metal gurus Cynic are in the process of working on a new album to be released in 2012. Guitarist and founding member Paul Masvidal described the material to Molten Magazine:

(I)t’s more sci-fi, futuristic and alien but at the same time very song driven. It’s kind of like, to me, coming into Cynic’s body more. It’s not like anything we’ve done before. It’s a new colour, a new space.
