Legendary guitarist Shuggie Otis, a chronic “where are they now” topic, is stepping back into the public eye with his first new music in nearly four decades. When Epic Records dropped the artist (and his even more legendary father Johnny) in the early ’70s, it was said that Otis quit the music business. He tells Mother Jones that this was not the case:

I didn’t quit, I was out there trying to get record deals. I’m not lying; I’ve got witnesses. Big ones, little ones, name a record company and I went there, more than once! I went to so many record companies it’s not even funny.
